- Child's birth certificate
- PDF: Application for Child Benefit KG 1 (1.0 MB)
- PDF: Child Annex (1.4 MB)
- PDF: Annex Foreign Countries/EU (0.1 MB) – only for foreign reference

- Online application: with BundID account (no printing required)
- Alternatively: Submit application and attachments by mail
- Processing time: approx. 4–6 weeks
- Payment: possible retroactively for up to 6 months

- Enter data about parents and child(ren)

- Send digitally or send signed by post
- Wait for feedback from the family benefits office (approx. 4–6 weeks)
- Child benefit is transferred monthly
